PRACTICE:
I have been in private practice since my admission to the Missouri and U.S. courts in October, 1982. Liberman Law Firm was founded in July, 1984, and became a Missouri Limited Liability Company in 2000.
EDUCATION:
After graduating from the Tulane University in 1978, I received a degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law in 1982. In addition, I keep current by, first, attending at least 9 hours of continuing legal education each year, and second, reading new case decisions each week.
PERSONAL:
Born in St. Louis. Married 20 years with five adult children and stepchildren. Additionally, I now have 2 granddaughters! I’m in excellent health. Love to play guitar, tennis and to run.
CLIENT RELATIONSHIPS:
Clients are referred to me by family. friends and other lawyers. Of course others by advertising and word of mouth. I want them to have good results here, because cases are stressful. I’ll meet with you quickly while the facts are still fresh, that way I can lay out your options from the start. Consequently, you may choose the best path for you.
NEGOTIATION:
First, we will gather and then organize all information on your case, in order to get the best sense the issues. Next, we will present it, and our position, to the other side, with our demand for settlement. Negotiations may be short, while others are lengthy. Some are unsuccessful, consequently I am well prepared for trial.
ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION:
Many cases have successful mediation sessions. Mediation is the most common alternative dispute resolution method, rather that going to trial. This gives us chance to express our emotions without the stress of a lengthy trial by jury.
LITIGATION:
I’ve tried many cases in Missouri Federal and State courts to jury and judge, so I am well versed in the rules of procedure and evidence. My appeals court work includes Missouri State courts and also the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals in Washington, D.C.
ETHICS AND LEGAL ABILITY:
I’ve been chairman of the Professionalism and Ethics Committees of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis. Before that, chairman of the Law Related Education Committee. I wrote a monthly ethics column. I am rated an AV attorney by Martindale-Hubbell, its top rating for ability and ethics.
